Dunnet Community Forest Site Visit

Due to the weather this visit has been postponed - please check back for updates.

Let’s shake off the January Blues and embrace the joys the northern coast of Scotland brings. CWA are excited to announce an Exchange Visit to Dunnet Community Forest. Dunnet is the most northerly community woodland, set on the North Coast 500 route.

Please note, there is significant funding available for the costs of this exchange visit.

CWA members often talk about their desire and joy of sharing with other community woodland groups and Dunnet Community Forest have kindly offered the opportunity for CWA members to do exactly that. This exchange visit will support those who wish to learn a little more about what goes on at Dunnet, and have the opportunity to share stories, collaborate, network and make new friends during the visit.

The team at the forest have planned a split two-day visit to maximise the limited daylight hours, and accommodation has been confirmed with The Northern Sands Hotel.

Funding

In a bid to keep costs as low as possible, CWA has identified a couple of funding sources to financially support other community woodland groups to attend:

  1. If your woodland group sits within the Highland Council area, the HC Community Regeneration Fund have agreed to support most, if not all, of the costs for attending the exchange visit, as long as receipts are presented to CWA. CWA will take responsibility for organising the hotel accommodation for this event.

Please contact Sharon@communitywoods.org should you wish to discuss further as reasonable advance payments can be offered depending on circumstances.

2. If you are hoping to attend from out-with Highland Council, you can apply for help with your costs through the Scottish Community Alliance’s Community Learning Exchange . It can take up to 3 weeks to hear about the success of this application, so please do apply as soon as possible. Please note that funds will be paid in advance of the exchange, but a quick payment is dependent on the applicant returning the award letter, endorsed by CWA asap.
