Forest Concepts Suitable for Community Woodlands

Wednesday 11th March. Online. Free

This introductory webinar will look at different ways of thinking about woodland management that may be useful for community woodland groups. It will provide a simple overview of how forestry is commonly practised in Scotland, some of the challenges woodlands face, and a range of alternative approaches that focus on keeping woodlands healthy and resilient over time. The session will avoid technical detail and specialist language, and will focus instead on ideas, examples and practical possibilities that feel relevant to community-led woodlands.

The webinar is for community woodland groups at all stages, whether you are new to woodland management or just starting to think about future options for your site. It will be led by CWA, with input from experts in sustainable forestry who work and manage community woodlands on the ground. They will share straightforward, real-life examples of what can be realistic for groups with limited time and resources.

There will be time for questions and discussion, information about a new grant scheme, and details of a possible follow-up site visit for anyone who would like to explore these ideas further.
