Woodland Management Plans (WMP’s)

The Scottish Forestry directory of management plan templates and guidance has 4 options for woodland/forest plans:

1. For woodlands less than 100ha where thinning will be carried out within 10 years: management plan with thinning

2. For woodlands less than 100ha where no thinning will be carried out within the plan period (10 years): management plan without thinning

3. For woodlands larger than 100ha or where there will be significant felling and replanting within the 10-year plan period: Long term forest plan (FGS grant is available for preparing and renewing long-term forest plans).

4. For urban woodlands: WIAT plan (grant funding, under the Woodlands In and Around Towns options, is available for preparing an urban woodland management plan)
