Requests for support

CWA recognises that sometimes member groups might need additional support - this might simply be a ‘sounding board’ to get another opinion, to ask a quick question, or to get more practical support to take forward a task.

The CWA team have a range of useful experience and skills which may be helpful to member groups. With around 140-150 member groups and our various day-to-day job roles, we are kept nicely busy, however subject to capacity (and the ask) we might be able to provide additional support to individual groups, on request. If we don’t know the answer, we might know someone who does, so we might signpost to an alternative source of support.

Below are examples of support we can offer - some might be free of charge, whist other support is likely be on a contractual basis. We can’t commit to regular support, but one-off or occasional may be possible.

  • Looking to consult with your community?

    CWA can provide:

    • Advice on the consultation process

    • Practical support to get the consultation up and running - website and documentation

    • CWA attendance at consultation in-person events

  • Planning ahead, or carrying out woodland works?

    CWA can provide support with a range of actions, including:

    Writing Plans

    • Writing new, or updating/ reviewing existing woodland management action plans

    • Feasibility plans

    • Wild fire action plans

    Mapping

    • For example as part of woodland management action plans

    Advice on grants

    • For example, advising on suitable grants for relevant works

    Surveys

    • For example Habitat Impact Assessment surveys, tree risk surveys

    Felling

    • Felling licence applications, for example for additional capercaillie management areas

    • Liasing with timber merchants and contractors

    Training

    • Identification of suitable training and trainers, for example woodland and ecology survey trainers

  • Require a written document or presentation to be converted into an engaging format?

    CWA can:

    • Format documents using Canva

    • Format presentations using Powerpoint or Canva

  • Dealing with a contentious group issue?

    CWA can:

    • help mediate by facilitating a meeting or event

  • Require a letter of support for a funding application or other?

    • CWA can provide this if suitable

  • Looking to advertise a job advert or an event?

    CWA can:

    • Share in the monthly Bulletin or quarterly Newsletter

    • Share on our social media feeds - Facebook, Instagram or BlueSky
