CWA Turns 22
Over the last week or so, and coinciding with CWA's 22nd birthday, we've had the real pleasure of unearthing some historical CWA treasures - nothing like a tidy-up to send you down an inspiring rabbit hole.
How it all began - a brief history:
November 2002 - Community Woodland Conference
Margaret Davidson, Abriachan Forest Trust and chair of the Community Woodland Association Steering Group, reported on progress since the Laggan Conference in 2000, when there was a 'rallying, clarion call ' to set up some kind of group to represent the views of community woodland groups. The proposed aims of a CWA were: 'To promote, represent, co-ordinate and support community-led interests in woodland issues throughout Scoțland'.
The CWA Inaugural Meeting took place the next day (Sunday 10th November 2002) and saw the bolstering of the steering group to 11 (8 of whom are shown in the photo below), from woodlands all around Scotland.
25th June 2003
The launch of The Community Woodlands Association took place in the Committee Chambers at the Scottish Parliament.
