Dalgety Bay Community Woodlands Group

A small group of volunteers looking after three woodlands in Dalgety Bay on behalf of the Community Council who are the woodland owners. The Fife Coastal Path runs through two of them and in addition to woodland we also manage the rocky headland of Downing Point with its special wildflowers and some other small areas of grassland where native wildflowers have been sown. The woods have been in existence for over 200 years and one of them was used as a base for soldiers in both World Wars who were manning the defence of the Forth. Two well preserved WW1 gun emplacements are situated beside this wood.
