Biodiversity Forester (Part Time)Salary: £25,500 - 27,500 pro-rata (plus: annual inflationary increase; pension contribution; mileage allowance)
Term: Part-time, 2.5days/wk (18.5hrs). Fixed Term, to August 2011.
Post North Highland Forest Trust requires an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to work with crofters, community groups and other woodland managers in Caithness and Sutherland in developing biodiversity-focused woodland projects and to support them in accessing SRDP grant-aid. A key priority will be schemes which delivery UKBAP priority habitat and species targets, as well as a focus on creating or managing productive broadleaved woodlands. You will also help organise events, demonstrations and community nursery work and assist with additional fundraising work for further projects as required. You will have a relevant qualification in, and experience of, forestry, conservation or biodiversity land management; experience of working with land managers, contractors and grant aided projects; experience of project management and report writing with excellent communication and IT skills. A flexible approach to working hours is welcomed. There is likely to be considerable travel associated with this post within Caithness and Sutherland for which access to a vehicle will be essential. The post will be based in our Golspie office. You will job-share with our existing manager/forester and, as such, a variety of options for job delivery are possible (including home working).
Woodland Biodiversity Project You will help to deliver this three year project, which will work with land managers across Caithness and Sutherland to support biodiversity-rich woodland management and expansion in the region.
North Highland Forest Trust NHFT was established in 1999 to promote sustainable woodland management in North Scotland for the benefit of local people. We are a charitable company limited by guarantee, governed by our voluntary Board of Directors and are responsible to a membership comprising groups and individuals from across the North. Our current projects support a staff of one full-time Manager/Forester, one part-time Biodiversity Forester and one part-time Project Support Officer.
