Moffat Community Woodlands - Gallow Hill Project Officer

Application Deadline: Friday 14th October 2016
30,000 contract over 2 years (c. 300 days)

Moffat Community Woodlands (MCW), a registered charity, is looking for a Project Officer to assist the trustees with the development and implementation of plans for the future of Gallow Hill, which we are purchasing from the present owners, Annandale Estates. The site has been previously planted commercially with conifers; we aim to replant it as mixed broadleaf woodland.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a high level of project planning and self-organisational skills; have experience of having engaged with similar projects, or particular aspects of such projects; and show knowledge of woodland management and/or related environmental areas. We are looking for someone who also has the skills, attitude and flexibility to encourage and facilitate community engagement with the project.

Key tasks of the role are to oversee all operational activities on the hill, including the supervision of contractors; to work with the trustees and other members of MCW in the implementation of planting and management plans; to train and supervise operational volunteers; and to advise trustees on all aspects of management of the site.

The contract will be managed by a lead trustee on behalf of all the SCIO trustees.

Further information, including full job description and person specification, is available from Peter Beck-Samuels (MCW Secretary) to whom CVs should be returned. or 01683 221456
Closing date is October 14th, and interviews will be scheduled for week commencing October 24th.
