Arkaig Community Forest - Contract opportunity: feasibility, business planning and fundraising work for Arkaig Community Forest SCIO, Lochaber

Application Deadline: Thursday 26th February 2015
The Arkaig Community Forest group, based at Achnacarry near Spean Bridge in Lochaber, have received approval to purchase the remote Glen Mallie and South Arkaig forest blocks for the community from Forestry Commission Scotland under the National Forest Land Scheme. The community group aims to restore and expand these important native woodland habitats (including significant pinewood remnants and a Caledonian Pinewood Inventory site) and to improve the ecological, economic and social value of the woods, bringing multiple gains to the area, preserving and enhancing these woodlands for public benefit and reconnecting people with the land.

With financial support from HIE, Trees for Life, Achnacarry Estate, Twindeer Law, Highland Wood Energy, and Killiechonate Woodlands, the group is now seeking to appoint a contractor to deliver feasibility and business planning as well as fundraising and preparation of a Scottish Land Fund application.

To request further information and full tender documents please contact Arkaig Community Forests Secretary Tracy Cameron:
01397 712187 or 07713 161954

The closing date for tenders is 1pm on Thursday the 26th February 2014.
