Regional woodland restoration charity, Borders Forest Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Woodland Habitat Officer to join its small and dynamic team in southern Scotland.
The Woodland Habitat Officer will develop and deliver the new Borders Tree Grant Scheme. This will involve promoting the scheme; liaising with and advising private landowners and farmers; providing planting advice and guidance; and supporting applicants through the funding process, and the practical implementation and co-ordination of the planting works.
Additionally the postholder will work to ensure that sites under BFT management are well managed and that the establishment of young native woodland is achieved. This will involve assessing woodland development, identifying site maintenance requirements to be carried out either personally or by external contractors and coordinating and/or supervising these works.
The postholder must have experience of woodland establishment, project development and implementation, working with landowners and farmers, supervising contractors, and a good knowledge of woodlands with associated practical skills. We are looking for someone with a passion for the natural environment and a clear commitment to the restoration of woodlands to undertake this work.
This is a part time post offering 22.5 hours/week (0.6FTE) at £20,000-£22,000 pro rata per annum depending on experience over an initial 2 year fixed term period.
Apply with CV and cover letter stating how you fit the Person Specification by 12 noon, 26th January. Interviews will be held on the 5th February 2015.
