Hours: full-time
Salary: £23 000 pa & benefits
Fixed term: 2 years with at least a further year for right candidate Lochbroom Woodfuels is a social enterprise based in the Scottish Highlands, owned by the Ullapool Community Trust. A young organisation but growing fast: we were delighted to be shortlisted as One to Watch in the 2014 UK Social Enterprise Awards. Our aim is to create a comprehensive and sustainable woodfuel supply chain in the local area; at the same time creating high-quality, specialist training, work experience and employment opportunities for local young people.
Lochbroom Woodfuels has been awarded financial support over three years by Young Start, the Prince’s Countryside Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise to enlarge and improve our services for young people. Our Workin’ Wood project aims to work with 120 young people over 3 years throughout the wider area.
Lochbroom Woodfuels is looking for a Workin’ Wood Officer to lead the programme. You should have 3+ years experience of working with young people in community/youth work or education; be enthusiastic about woodfuels and have a practical, hands-on approach to work. You will have overall responsibility for the success of Workin’ Wood but you will have practical,
administrative and strategic support from the CEO and the Lochbroom Woodfuels board. A proven hard-working, motivated self-starter, you’ll have experience in training, coaching, mentoring, managing budgets, monitoring and evaluating outcomes;
and be willing to operate plant and machinery and undertake traning as required. The successful candidate will be subject to successful PVG clearance.
