Colintraive and Glendaruel - A full-time Project Development Officer and a part-time Project Admin and Communications Officer

Application Deadline: Friday 18th October 2013
The Colintraive and Glendaruel Development Trust is delighted to announce that it has been successful in its application to the Climate Challenge Fund for the “Greener ColGlen” project.

The project which is worth £172,357, will run from October 2013 until the end of March 2015, employ a project officer and an administrator, and follows on from the trust’s highly successful ‘Warmer ColGlen’ project which has just finished.

This project combines four initiatives which the community has identified as being of huge potential benefit. First, is the establishment of a food growing group within the Community, and includes the creation of two polytunnels. The second is a community Composting scheme. Thirdly, the project will develop a woodfuel pilot project which will supply local woodfuel needs through the clearance of invasive rhododendron ponticum. And lastly, carrying on from the Warmer ColGlen project, there will be an energy-based programme, combining surveys with the Green Deal and other initiatives.

A full-time Project Development Officer (£25,200pa) will oversee the project, coordinate the Community, volunteers and contractors to install the infrastructure and deliver the other outcomes, also providing or organising the Green Deal Assessments, and a part-time Project Admin and Communications Officer (24 hours per week at £18,480pa pro rata) will provide support with payroll, purchasing, marketing and communications.

The trust is recruiting for both of these positions immediately, and invites expressions of interest via email cgdt@cgdt.org or phone 01700 841 358. The deadline for applications is Friday, 18th October.

This is an opportunity to work with one of the West Coasts most innovative Development Trusts, in an environment of outstanding natural beauty, with a community whose Hogmanay celebration is reputed to be among the best in Argyll.

CGDT wish to thank the Climate Challenge Fund for granting the funding, the Are You Ready pilot project and Adaptation Scotland for their inspiration, and the Community Focus Group for all their hard work on getting this project going.
