Job opportunity with Coed Lleol - Partnership Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

Based at Coed Lleol office in Machynlleth, mid-Wales.
£22 000 - £25 000 pro rata, 2 days per week.

Temporary Contract (maternity cover) for 12 months, subject to approval of funding for next stage of the project after first 4 months (April 2012).

Partnership Coordinator required to facilitate, the Coed Lleol partnership in Wales, managed by the Small Woods Association,in particular to manage the ‘Actif Woods Wales’ project.
Coed Lleol (a project of national charity Smallwoods) aims to reconnect people and woodlands in Wales, and has a Wales-wide focus. They aim to raise awareness of the benefits of woodland for biodiversity, access, health and woodland products. They currently focus on woodlands for health and wellbeing, coordinating the ‘Actif Woods Wales’ programme of woodland health activities in Aberystwyth and Treherbert (Heads of the Valleys), with funding from Forestry Commission Wales. The post holder will spend the first 4 months of the job (Dec 2012 until March 2012) supporting existing staff in coordinating our current pilot programmes, as well as continuing ongoing negotiations with funders and preparing for the next (larger) phase of the project, to start from April 2012 in 3 new areas of Wales (Wrexham, Neath Port Talbot and Anglesey). Should they be successful in obtaining funding for the next phase from the Big Lottery and other match funders, the post holder will take the role of setting up and coordinating the next phase of ‘Actif Woods Wales’, including recruiting new staff, liaising with funders, and preparing for development of new project activities.

Coed Lleol is led by a steering group of representatives from the environmental and health sectors, including from the Forestry Commission Wales, Countryside Council for Wales, National Exercise Referral Scheme, Public Health Wales, Wildlife Trusts, Woodland Trust, and Llais y Goedwig, as well as a number of independent representatives.

Small Woods, with headquarters in Ironbridge, Telford, is the national organisations for small woodlands. You will have experience of fundraising and management, working with communities and in partnerships, and good communication skills. You should have some knowledge and experience of issues related to woodland and forestry in Wales.
