Aigas CF Development Worker

Application Deadline: Friday 13th July 2012
Aigas Community Forest (ACF) is seeking a self employed worker to help bring about the community purchase or lease of Aigas Forest from Forestry Commission Scotland, through the National Forest Land Scheme.

While ACF have made considerable progress over the last 3 years we have a limited timescale in which to realise our ambitions. We therefore need assistance with a wide range of activities, particularly but not exclusively: securing funding for the purchase through applications to the Scottish Land Fund, HIE and others; negotiation of loan/grant arrangements with Social Investment Scotland and/or others; negotiations with potential woodland management companies or timber industries regarding future purchase of standing timber and ongoing dialogue with FCS regarding the process for establishing a lease value.

The contract is for an eight-month period from August 2012 and is part time in nature, although it should be recognised that at key points in the process it may take up full time equivalent hours. The position would suit a self-employed individual working from a home office environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own Tax and National Insurance returns. The remuneration for this contract is 10,000 and payment will be made in instalments, to be agreed on appointment.

Funding for this post will be provided by HIE, the FCS Community Seedcorn Fund and The Highland Council.
