Scottish Wildlife Trust - Conservation VolunteersThis group of conservation volunteers can help with various projects within community woodlands. They charge a reasonable rate and quotes are per day or per job. The have a team of up to 14 and are fully supervised. To find our more contact Peter Gilbert on 0131 312 4732.
Lothian Conservation VolunteersThe organisation would like to hear from you if you have some work for them. The charge is £5 per workday, plus 35p per mile travelled. New Caledonian WoodlandsNew Caledonian Woodlands is a new not-for-profit organisation that delivers projects which offer real benefits to the environment and to local communities, with a focus on woodlands. We aim to:
· Create opportunities that allow people to get involved in a hands-on way to bring about environmental improvements;
· Improve local environmental community assets and help create new ones;
· Offer people the opportunity to learn more about their impact on the environment and how to reduce this impact.
We have put together a series of projects that we hope will appeal to as many people as possible and are looking for new ones all the time. If you would like to participate or if you have a project, from biodiversity weekends to team building events for groups of work colleagues and tree planting days and weekends. The events are friendly, informative and fun – as well as providing great exercise in the outdoors. We hope that you will be inspired to find out more and get involved! Scottish Business in the Community Looking for Projects across ScotlandTeam Challenge represents a new approach to employee volunteering led by Scottish Business in the Community Projects are linked to employee team building and involve transfer of business skills into the community – working in partnership to achieve practical indoor and outdoor makeovers. Organisations benefit from the completed activity and the possibility of longer term association with the company. The volunteers would be from various locations across Scotland although the majority focus around key population centres where the large Corporates are based. Teams vary from 6 – 60 individuals so no job is too big or too small! Project would need to be achievable in 1 day , not including preparation time. For large projects several consecutive challenges could be the solution. Usually they will be able to provide some funding for materials, and hunt round for support from other businesses to provide equipment etc. SBC will broker the relationship and ensure that volunteer team leaders are fully briefed on working with community partners and managing a project.For more information please Contact James Tindell or 0131 451 1118
Volunteering for Community WoodlandsThere are many community woodland groups across Scoltand. All of these groups are dedicated to involving the wider community in the development of their woods. There are many ways that you can help, from a couple of hours a month helping to tidy up the woodlands to assisting with the many administrative tasks that are necessary for the smooth running of the group anything you can offer would be welcome.
If you would like to volunteer for a community woodland group then go to the Member Map and contact the group closest to you. Otherwise contact CWA Development Staff for more information. Specific volunteering opporuntiies will be posted here when details are available.
