Piers Voysey - Chair
piers_hiking_face_120 Piers is a freelance forester and woodland co-owner. From 2003 to 2007 Piers worked as the project manager for the Anagach Woods Trust, the community woodland group in Grantown on Spey. He has previously worked for Scottish Native Woods, the Forestry Commission Scotland and on community woodland projects in Papual New Guinea and Guatemala.

Ian Whitehead - Joint Vice Chair
ianw_400_01 Ian Whitehead works as Forest Habitat Network Officer for Edinburgh and the Lothians. He has an extensive track record of facilitating community environmental initiatives in both urban and rural settings. He has worked in diverse locations including the Welsh Borders and the North East of Scotland where he previously managed Aberdeen Countryside Project. Ian has also worked as a VSO forester in Nepal.

Jamie McIntyre - Joint Vice Chair
jamie_120 Jamie is the Woodland Croft Project Officer and offers advice on all aspects of woodland crofting.  He previously worked with Sunart Oakwoods for 10 years. Initially self employed, he worked as the community forester for Sunart Oakwoods Initiative. SOI is a partnership between community, local agencies and private landowners, who share a belief that this remote rural community can provide benefits for the growth of the area through development of the woodland, one of their greatest assets.

Gordon Gray Stephens - Company Secretary
gordongraystephens_120 Gordon Gray Stephens is the diector of Scottish Native Woods, a conservation charity that aims to restore native woodlands as well as the links between people and woodlands. He is also one of the founding members and the Company Secretary of the Argyll Green Woodworkers Association (AGWA).

Seumas MacKiseumas_photo_400nnon
Seumas works with the GalGael Trust – a community regeneration project – based in Govan. He trains people in woodwork, mills timber, sails traditional boats and participates in craft events amongst other duties. He also manages a farmhouse project near Loch Awe, Argyll. This will become a bunkhouse and native tree nursery, bridging the urban/rural worlds. Working with folk from both country and city, will help to re-connect people with their natural heritage whilst also reclaiming their culture.

Anna has worked for Borders Forest Trust, a woodland conservation charity based in the Scottish Borders, since 2002. In her role as the Community Liaison and Education Officer she provides ongoing support for Community Woodland Groups in the region; leading public events; developing woodland projects and providing educational activities (predominantly Forest Schools) for local schools and youth groups. Anna is a firm believer in the benefits of Forest Schools and is a member of the Scottish Forest Schools Sub Group, where she has recently assisted in the development of a Quality Assurance scheme for Forest Schools in Scotland.

Brigitte Geddes
bg_pic_for_publ_120 Brigitte has recently embarked on a second career in Environment & Heritage Management, with a special focus on project management for community groups of semi-natural woodlands, renewable energy, environmental impact assessments and biosphere reserves. As a scientific-technical translator and conference interpreter she has a lot of experience assessing complex issues. She also works as a tourist guide in Caithness and Sutherland. Brigitte pursues a balanced approach to the sustainable management of community woodlands as valuable assets for present and future generations.

Henry Fosbrookehenry_with_viewer

Henry is an active member of Milton Community Woodland Trust.  With his company Woodland Orchestra Henry also travels around the country, sharing his musicl talents with people of all ages, encouraging them to play musical instruments made from wood. He is dedicated to getting people back into nature, teaching them practical uses for wood and building eco homes using timber construction techniques.

Alan is a member of Pit Clachan, a Perthshire based group interested in forest living, and he is a strong advocate of the role of humans in woodland ecology. He is also a keen historian and practical archaeologist.

Margaret Davidson rq190109_004_400

Margaret is a member of Abriachan Forest Trust and a Highland Councillor.  In the past she was part of the Forestry For People Panel and also a director of Reforesting Scotland.  She sits on many relevant committees in the Highland Region including Highlands and Islands Forestry Forum and continues to support community woodland development across Scotland.

 

Paul Cookson rq190109_002_400   

Paul works as a woodland officer with Glasgow City Council, which involves reintroducing woodland management to over 1000 hectares, setting up timber utilisation projects and developing community involvement. The urban woodland connection is a great asset to the team of directors. Paul also played an important role in the establishment of Dunning Community Trust, which owns a small oak wood, but his place on the Board of Directors has been supported by Drumchapel Woodland Group.
