Wanted - Knowledge and Skills to Pass OnDo you have skills you would like to pass on to others in the community land sector? We are looking for individuals within community groups keen to take part in a Train the Trainer course running this October.
Accredited by Stonebow, the course is run over three days to help participants plan training and give them confidence and the correct techniques to make their training enjoyable for both the trainer and the trainees. Numbers are restricted to a maximum of 6 delegates which means that everyone attending participates actively throughout the 3 days.
This is an excellent opportunity for people to help their groups to generate income by running training courses themselves. Participants who pass their assessment will be added to the CWA database of trainers and will also have an opportunity to deliver courses on behalf of CWA if their chosen subject is one of the topics on our list of training events.
Participants can specialise in a related subject of their choice (anything from local fundraising to managing major projects) and costs £30. Places are restricted to eligible community organisations and organisations who offer community support (places dependant on demand from community groups) . For more information contact Diane or download the documents here.

Community woodfuel supply: essentials of running a social enterprise 25th and 26th Sept.CWA is pleased to extend a warm invitation to you to join us at the Community woodfuel supply workshop to be held at Abriachan Village Hall, near Inverness. This event will offer another great opportunity to network, highlight and discuss common issues and concerns, share your skills and experiences, and learn from the inspirational work of others.
This networking opportunity, aimed at members of community woodland groups and professionals working to support the development of community woodland groups, will be held on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th September. The objectives of the 2-day event are:
· To increase awareness of the role that Community Woodland social enterprises play in woodfuel supply at the local scale and of the opportunities presented by the current energy crisis;
· To provide participants with the information and contacts to set up and develop a woodfuel social enterprise, apply for funding and acquire appropriate equipment;
· To improve understanding of the economic, business management and technical considerations for running a successful community woodfuel supply as a social enterprise.
There will be a mixture of presentations from groups running their own social enterprises, site visits around Inverness, and open discussions, all in all a very practical two days! So, please come prepared to share your own experiences.
A draft programme is attached for your consideration, along with a booking form. Please return your completed booking form to me as soon as possible and by no later than Friday 12th September. Numbers are limited for the event and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
