CWA "The 12th AWOO Networking Event” @ Tighnabruaich, Argyll

22nd September
CWA are pleased to announce that funding has again been approved by Forestry Commission Scotland for the CWA to organise another two ‘A Wood of Our Own’ events during 2017/18. The first of these will be hosted by Kilfinan Community Forest Company (KCFC) at Tighnabruaich. This will be the 3rd AWOO visit to KCFC, however they have many strings to their bow. So whilst a number of previously-aspirational projects have now come to fruition since our last trip there are just as many current and future ideas being worked on – to give inspiration and example to any community groups wishing to make the trip.

We will spend the morning indoors (Kames Village Hall) where we can catch up with other Argyll groups with some 10-minute presentations and general discussion/networking. After lunch, delegates can head out to the forest with KCFC ‘tour guides’ to look at recent developments, including their sawmill self-build training/workshop facility, the new woodland crofts, the Branching Out projects (including Iron Age roundhouse), affordable housing plans and the community engagement programmes that have been running through 2017 delivering skills, health and conservation objectives.

A booking form and detailed agenda are available below. As with previous AWOO events, your travel expenses can be reclaimed (public transport costs or 25p/mile).
