Train the Trainer; Stonebow’s Group Training Certificate (GTC)
2nd, 3rd, 10th May 2013
The Gateway Centre,
North Methven Street, Perth, PH1 5PP

The Group Training Certificate programme provides the knowledge and skills to design and deliver effective interactive theoretical training sessions to groups of people. Participants will learn how to plan training that meets their objectives, how to identify appropriate methods of training that will maximize their group’s understanding and how to develop skills to help engage all group members. On successful completion participants will be awarded Stonebow’s nationally recognised Group Training Certificate (GTC)

Who is it for?
It is specifically designed for managers, supervisors, team leaders, trainers and staff members and volunteers who need to either understand the basics of training practice, or want to refine / update their training techniques. Those who have never delivered training before will find it an ideal basis for their future training activities. Trainers or potential trainers from any discipline will benefit from the programme as the qualification concentrates on the training process rather than the content.

Course Content
• How people learn in groups
• Writing an instructional objective
• Structuring training – introduction, development, consolidation
• Handling groups effectively
• Questioning techniques
• Using visual aids and handouts
• Increasing participation
• Using syndicates and exercises
• Completing workplace action plans

Duration: Delegates must commit to all 3 days (9.15 for 9.30am – 4.30pm (Day 1) 9.00am – 5.00pm (Day’s 2 & 3)

Participants will be expected to plan a training session following both the 1st and 2nd session; this will be carried out at home; we anticipate that this will result in approximately 2 hours work per evening.

This course is informal and highly participative with active discussion, exchange of ideas, exercises, group work and two practical sessions in which participants can practice their new skills. There is a formal assessment whereby participants will be required to deliver the training session to the rest of the group and receive valuable feedback. This ensures the participant is equipped to write and deliver their own effective training sessions when back in their organisation.
