The extensive woodlands within the policies and designed landscape of The National Trust for Scotland’s Fyvie Castle and the surrounding area provide an ideal venue for the course, which will address a broad range of skills and techniques for achieving effective, efficient and sustainable woodland management – ranging from coppicing, pruning, and thinning both hardwoods and softwoods – as well as the specific requirements necessary for creating wildlife habitats, keeping young trees healthy and vigorous, and enhancing the amenity value of woodlands to both the local community and visitors.
