Optimising your Woodfuel Resource - Abriachan

20th April
20th April 2012
Abriachan Community Forest

The growing number of woodfuel installations is driving growth in woodfuel demand. This provides opportunities to increase forest structural and species diversity, to bring previously uneconomic or undermanaged forests into sustainable management, and to create new woodlands, while maximising financial and environmental benefits.

The opportunities for woodland owners are significant and not restricted to professionally managed, large forests. Market expansion is providing room for all levels of production, from the small to large scale; even small woodlands have the potential to supply woodfueleconomically on a local scale.

This event provides the opportunity for you to learn how to assess potential availability of woodfuel in your woodland. In the morning session you will learn how to assess what you have, including hands on training to estimate volume of material available. In the afternoon a wood-fuel processor will be on site to demonstrate the economics, efficiency and effectiveness ofusing a wood processor for log production.
