Mountain Bike Trail Construction - South Queensferry

This course offers participants training and experience in building mountain bike trails and features, including pump track planning and building. It consists of six full-day sessions (all Sundays 9.30am-4.30pm) between March and October (excluding April and July).

Audience:- This course is intended for a mix of local volunteers and CWA members interested in woodland trail-building and design. All participants should be over 18.

Cost:- The course is free, funded from the Knowledge and Exchange Fund administered by CWA.

Content:- The six sessions are as follows (See separate sheet for more details)

4 March: Plan and manually construct a pump track - complete
25 March: Plan and manually construct a pump track - complete
27 May: Single Track building - complete
24 June: Single Track Building - complete
19 August: Building Riding Features - postponed until October 28th
30 September: Building Riding Features

Location:- Most work will be done on site at our site in South Queensferry (south side of the Forth Road Bridge). Our track is in the early stages of building and therefore suitable for practical work. There will also be some classroom work.

Tutor:- Pete Laing, a well-known and experienced track designer, will lead the sessions. He has an extensive CV, and is well-known for his work, for example at Glentress.
