27th October - 28th October

This 2 day practical training programme, with Scottish native woodlands expert Peter Quelch and dendrochronologist/environmental archaeologist Coralie Mills, will introduce you to the approaches, techniques and resources involved in investigating woodland history and archaeology. There will be a mix of workshop-style talks (indoors) and hands-on practical work in a nearby historic wood which we will use as a case study to work on together; the approaches covered will be transferable to other woodlands. Due to the practical nature of the course, places are limited to 16 (increase on previous number 12) so early booking is advisable. Please contact CWA’s Rosslyn Mills at if you are interested in attending, and she will contact you when the workshop date and location are firmed up and will take bookings. Feel free to contact Coralie if you would like more info on course content, at or explore for a flavour of the Scottish woodland history research work that Coralie and Peter do.
